John & Monique Wright will be teaching East Coast Swing which is a simplified version of Lindy Hop danced to Big Band, hot jazz, 50s rock, jump blues & country swing — anything with a syncopated beat.
UPDATE 11/15/23: Monique & I will teach the full 8-count Lindy Hop swing out. You will learn all the components of 6-count East Coast Swing — including proper connection, footwork & turns — but be able to do the dance you see in the old movies!
We hold a FREE swing dance lesson & social dance on the 1st Saturday of each month alternating between West Coast and East Coast Swing lessons from 7-8 PM. The dance from 8-9 PM will feature a blend of music which will allow you to “cut a rug” to various forms of swing. Generally, however, the music played will match the lesson.
Open to adults. No dance experience necessary. Bring clean shoes to protect the dance floor.
Overflow parking available at the high school across the street on College Avenue. Use the NORTH entrance to the building. There is a donation jar at the front door. Please help the venue if you can.
